Facts and figures about the Music hall

Without a doubt, the Concert Hall dating from 1876 is the heart of the Stadtcasino Basel. Its acoustics rank amongst the best in the world. Besides the structural proportions of the hall, the ornate decor also plays a decisive role in this respect. Many of the elements of the interior architecture chosen by architect Johann Jakob Stehlin, an adherent of Historicism, are reminiscent of baroque halls. Stuccowork, crystal chandeliers, busts and portraits of famous composers create an entirely unique ambiance whilst also providing optimum sound diffusion.

Depending on the size of the stage, the Concert Hall can accommodate between 1,191 and 1,397 seats, of which 468 are located at balcony level.
